The Bahamas National Trust (BNT) has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Finance who will provide key oversight functions for the Finance Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing the financial performance of the organization, overseeing its accounting operations, and will work closely with the Executive Director, Directors, and other key members of the management team.


Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintain and execute accounting control systems, accurate accounting records, financial strategies, and analyses for the BNT.
  • Ensure full compliance with all BNT accounting, reporting, and internal control policies, and procedures.
  • Liaise with Department Heads and the Executive Director to prepare annual work plans and the consolidated budget.
  • Prepare monthly financials and reports, cash analysis, and cash flow projections.
  • Review and update as necessary all BNT financial policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with and support the BNT Finance and Investment Committees.
  • Responsible for the administration of all BNT bank accounts and credit cards.
  • Control and monitor all project and grant funds, assist in the preparation of financial information in support of Grant applications and donor gift proposals. Ensure that all payments and financial transactions comply with conditions and restrictions imposed by grantors and donors.
  • Liaise and coordinate external audits and any audits required by project donors.
  • Provide relevant information for the financials and audits of the Parks Bahamas Foundation and Bahamas National Trust Fund.
  • Maintain records of all BNT physical assets and ensure relevant insurance coverage is maintained
  • Create and submit reports to the relevant government ministries.
  • Oversee BNT Gift shops and the integration of the Point of Sale and Inventory Management and associated financial procedures.
  • Organize the financial aspects of and serve as a resource for BNT fundraising events.


Required Skills and Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years experience
  • Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and management skills
  • Knowledge of automated accounting systems including Sage Accounting (Peachtree) Systems and ISL Payroll
  • Strong communication, presentation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work with diverse backgrounds and ethnicities
  • Able to set priorities and multi-task while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines
